is the "light edition" of  COPRA® MetalBender Desktop

Parametric  sheet metal design and unfolding

COPRA® MetalBender Desktop LE allows the fully parametric design of sheet metal bending parts. Due to the easy handling of the application ("Windows-look and-feel" user environment) and the powerful design utilities even complex sheet metal bending parts can be designed very quickly and reliably.

The use of state of the art software development tools like object oriented programming and the feature-based arrangement of the sheet metal parts results in a software solution required for your daily work: an effective design tool for your sheet metal design.

COPRA® MetalBender Desktop LE is a parametrically designed member within the COPRA® MetalBender software family. The features are consistently built on the technology of the COPRA® MetalBender 3D.

The seamless integration in the environment of Mechanical Desktop allows any combination of the MetalBender technology with the features of the CAD-System. This includes assembly drawings as well as the creation of scenes or the detailing of parts.

Functionality of COPRA® MetalBender Desktop LE
  • Automatic creation of a new sheet metal part
    predefinition of bending parameters e. g. sheet thickness (gauge), inside radius or cutout parameters. Integrated layer control for the calculation flat pattern calculation

    standard shapes can be saved in a data base

  • Base plate feature
    easy definition of rectangular base plates

  • Contour plate feature
    easy definition of individualy shaped base plates including outer and inner contours

  • Flange feature
    automatical definition of all flexible flanges - simple variation of all relevant flange parameters is possible. It is not necessary for the user to decide between different flange types. This guarantees full flexibility if subsequent modifications are necessary

  • Z-flange feature
    simplifies the design of the frequently happening double bent flanges drastically. There are 4 different variations available

  • Mitre cut feature
    very easy calculation of mitre cuts by clicking the associated edge. A mitre cut can be changed to a butt-joint at any time
  • Close corner feature
    just by mouse-clicks corners between bends can be closed according to common and practically used strategies. Dependencies are taken into account by COPRA MetalBender automatically. Sheet thickness keeps unchanged automatically
  • Open corner feature
    "opens" corners of parts being generated by the "wall-thickness" command

  • Open Face-Feature 
    mitre cut of sheet metal parts;
    opens faces being generated by "wall thickness" commands

  • Table feature 
    easy administration of the parameters via e.g. MS-Excel

  • Remove feature
    every added feature can be removed. The designer does no longer depend on the "undo" function
  • Professional flat pattern calculation
    • calculation of the neutral line according to DIN, K factor, material data, machine correction tables or practical, company specific values
    • flat pattern calculation for the neutral face or both sided flat pattern calucation
    • automatic calculation of the cutting contour for intersecting objects
    • minimisation of intersection points of intersection curves or
    • automatical optimisation of radii for laser cuting operations

The COPRA® MetalBender Desktop LE is available for: Mechanical Desktop.
The Autodesk products
AutoCAD or Mechanical Desktop Software are not included and are required in order to operate COPRA® MetalBender successfully.
